Introduction to Chiropractic

Chiropractic is a conservative, drug free approach to health care. It is a science, art, and philosophy that focuses on restoring the human body to a state of health. Chiropractic concerns itself with the relationship between the nervous system and the function (health) of the body. Chiropractic offers patients care for some of the major health care problems of today, especially back and neck pain, headaches, arthritis, and injuries. All doctors or healthcare professionals know the human body is a self healing, self-regulating organism and that the brain controls every function of the body through the spinal cord.

Recent polls (Gallup) and studies (NIH) show that Chiropractic care is effective in treating conditions if the spine in both the positive results achieved and patient satisfaction. Polls revealed that 90 percent of patients felt that Chiropractic health care made them feel and work better, that they get relief without drugs or medications, and that it provides health care that other physicians cannot.
Chiropractic, founded in 1895, is based on the scientific fact that the nervous system controls the function of every cell, organ, and system of the human body. Doctors of Chiropractic are trained in the diagnosis and treatment of human disease and injury. The nervous system (spinal cord) is protected by the movable bones of the spine, just as the brain is protected by the skull. When the bones of the spine (vertebrae) lose their normal motion or position, they cause interference in the nervous system. These interferences are called vertebral subluxations and they can irritate the nervous system and disrupt the function of the tissues or organs that the nerves control. Doctors of Chiropractic are specialists in locating and removing nervous interference in the human spine. They can detect vertebral subluxations and correct them with adjustments to restore normalcy to the nervous system and spinal columns.

For over 100 years, Chiropractors have been helping people with their health care needs. Some of the conditions that benefit from chiropractic care are:
